Atlanta, USA – September 5, 2006 – Alcan Cable, a division of Alcan Inc.’s (NYSE, TSX: AL) Engineered Products group, unveiled its new MODEX™ brand of modular wiring systems today, designed for the commercial construction market to allow for quick and easy on-site installation.

“Through Alcan Cable’s 2005 acquisition of Prewired Systems, LLC, it now offers a comprehensive range of pre-fabricated wiring solutions to the commercial construction market,” said Ian Hewett, President of Alcan Cable. “MODEX™ wiring designs complement Alcan Cable’s STABILOY® and NUAL® commercial building wire products, which positions the Company as the preferred solution provider to our customers,” he added.

The MODEX™ product line consists of complete, custom wiring assemblies that allow for quick and easy installation resulting in total installed cost savings. Unlike the traditional pipe and wire method, Alcan’s MODEX™ modular systems eliminate the need for the assembly of components at the job site by skilled labor. MODEX™ wiring assemblies are delivered in pre-packaged units to the job site when needed, which minimizes material shrinkage and handling costs.

Because MODEX™ systems allow for clean, simple and fast installation, the contractor is paid sooner by receiving a higher percentage of draw at the rough-in stage of a project. MODEX™ wiring assemblies are UL and C-UL listed, factory tested to ensure consistent quality of all components, and comply with the National Electrical Code and Canadian Electrical Code requirements.
