Lawrence Ingram Receives ASTM International Arnold H. Scott Award

ASTM International Committee D09 on Electrical and Electronic Insulating Materials has honored Lawrence B. Ingram, senior product development chemist at Alcan Cable, Williamsport, Pa., with the Arnold H. Scott Award.  The award is given for outstanding achievement in the science of electrical insulation. 

Ingram, who joined ASTM International in 1991, is the current vice chairman of Committee D09, where he serves on several subcommittees and chairs Subcommittee D09.97 on LRP and Liaison.  He is also an active member of Committees D20 on Plastics, E37 on Nondestructive Testing and G03 on Weathering and Durability.  

After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with a master’s degree in chemistry in 1972, Ingram joined the staff at Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. as tire development compounder.  He went on to hold chemist positions at Firestone Fibers and Textiles Co. and the Chromalox Division of Emerson Electric Co. before assuming his current role in 1986.
 
Outside of ASTM International, Ingram is a member of the American Chemical Society, the Society of Plastics Engineers and the American Society for Quality.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the Polytechnic Institute of New York.
