Type USEB90 is a standardized, consolidated version of several concentric neutral designs, popularized by western provincial electrical utilities since the late 1960s. The provincial inspection authority having jurisdiction should be consulted for their requirements of neutral conductor size.
Up to and including the insulated stage, the USEI90 and USEB90 types are identical, having the same NUAL® conductor designs, insulation type and insulation thickness. The USEB90 insulated conductors are assembled and covered with a helically-applied layer of bare annealed copper wires which together comprise the neutral conductor in the assembly. The concentric neutral conductor is covered with a PVC outer jacket, resistant to moisture and most oils and chemicals.
Usually provided with a separator tape of polyester or other compatible materials to produce a smooth exterior configuration, the outer PVC jacket has an improved (minus 40°C) flexibility and impact rating.
In its popular form for split single-phase residential services, Type USEB90 comprises two insulated conductors laid side by side in flat formation, then covered with the concentric neutral and PVC jacket.
Type USEB90 is approved for underground services and feeders in residential and commercial applications, including farm distribution systems, oil pumping jacks, irrigation systems, etc.
