Aluminum AC strip, produced at St-Maurice Works in Shawinigan, Quebec, is used to manufacture the metal sheathing for electrical cables for construction and industrial markets. With its combination of strength, formability, and light weight, aluminum is the metal of choice for contractors and electricians. As a result, aluminum strip has replaced steel for many commercial, residential, and industrial applications.
With fully automated rolling mills and advanced control systems, St-Maurice Works is able to consistently meet the stringent demands of our customers for dimensional tolerance, winding for high-speed pay-off, packaging, and mechanical properties. |

Located in the heart of Alcan's smelter system in the Saguenay Region of Quebec, Lapointe Works uses molten aluminum, which is 99.7% pure, to produce continuous cast rod for electrical conductors, armoring strip, co-axial cable, insect screen wire, cold heading, de-oxidizing rod for the steel industry, and numerous other mechanical applications.
The production of top quality aluminum redraw rod requires care and attention to every detail. Alcan begins with state-of-the-art equipment, then takes specific steps throughout the casting, rolling, and packaging processes to ensure a consistent and reliable quality of product. A technical staff with unsurpassed knowledge and expertise in metallurgy, casting, rolling, armoring, and wire-drawing, is available to provide support to our valued customers. |
