Goals & Targets

Maintaining a healthy ecological balance is crucial to the development of healthy businesses and communities. While we believe that Alcan Cable is making major improvements on its path to net neutrality, we recognize that there is always room for growth. Because of this, we set clear goals by which we can measure our successes and determine our weaknesses. Our targets include:

Environmental Goals

• Strive to achieve a 5% year-over-year improvement in reducing the use of hazardous chemicals, substituting with environmentally friendly materials.
• Actively work to reduce consumption of natural gas at LaPointe Works by 20% by the year 2015.
• Successfully complete the Green Supplier Network Audit at our Williamsport, PA cable plant as requested by our customers.

Social Goals

• Achieve a 25% year-over-year reduction in OSHA recordable injuries.
• Achieve an EHS business unit initiative of completing Risk Asessment & Managing Behaviors training at all manufacturing plants.
• Maintain a diligent focus and communication plan that reinforces the guiding principles of Alcan Cable's Environment, Health and Safety program with the Atlanta office headquarters employees.

Economic Goals

• Through expanded use of MASTERPAK®, Alcan Cable can reduce the waste to landfills and number of trees harvested.
• Through our commitment to LEAN technologies, we will strive and eliminate waste in all forms throughout our business.
