Alcan Cable St. Maurice Plant Hosts Anniversary Celebration

On September 17, 2011, the Alcan Cable St. Maurice plant marked their 25th anniversary of operation by hosting a family celebration at the manufacturing facility in Shawinigan, Quebec. The St. Maurice plant began manufacturing aluminum cable for the Canadian market on September 4, 1986. A century ago, the company started aluminum production at its previous manufacturing site in Shawinigan.
A day of festivities included plant tours, a catered lunch, and children’s activities. A special aluminum sculpture, designed by Lorraine Beaulieu and produced with the help of plant employees, was displayed at the plant entrance. A charity golf tournament for l’association des Grands Brûlés (Severe Burn Foundation) was held in conjunction with the anniversary event. 
Over 300 people attended the celebration including employees, retirees, and the mayor of Shawinigan, Michel Anger. Jack Miller, President, Alcan Cable and Brett McBrayer, V. P. and General Manager Rod & Strip, Alcan Cable, recognized the employees and their families for their dedication, hard work and support over the last 25 years.
